The fourth Sage Voices Community Conversation is scheduled for next Thurs. evening at 7 at Monticello High School. Sage Voices is a community engagement effort to obtain input on Monticello’s school facilities.

Possible Medical Marijuana Facility in Taylorville

Several parties are looking to purchase the Rock Solid Produce building, west of Taylorville, including one who would turn it into a medical marijuana facility. Christian County Economic Development Corporation Executive Director, Mary Renner, says nothing is set in stone.

Sangamon County Issuing Same-Sex Marriage Licenses

Sangamon County Clerk, Joe Aiello, says the county will begin issuing same-sex marriages licenses today. The clerk’s office will be open from 8:30 to 5 today. The new Illinois law allowing same-sex marriages goes into effect tomorrow.

Mt. Zion Ice Cream Social

The Mt. Zion Community Ice Cream Social is Sun. afternoon from 4 to 7 at the Mt. Zion Christian United Methodist Church. There’ll be entertainment, a silent auction, a bounce house, kids crafts, and lots of ice cream.

DeWitt County Fighting Underage Drinking

The DeWitt County Human Resource Center has applied for a grant to fight underage drinking. A recent survey of high school students showed a higher underage drinking rate than the state average.

Partial Closure of Oakland Ave. in Decatur

Oakland Ave, between Leafland and Grand Aves. in Decatur, will be partially closed for the next three weeks. Crews are removing and replacing pavement. It’s scheduled to reopen June 19.

Decatur’s Inland Port Gets an Award

The Midwest Inland Port in Decatur gets statewide recognition for spurring job growth and community investment. The Illinois Chamber and Illinois Development Council gave awards to six companies, including the port in Decatur.
