Macon County Conservation District Goes Into the Wild

The Macon County Conservation District is offering folks the chance to take part in their cross country skiing and snowshoeing “Into the Wild” event on Feb. 7. It’ll be at the Rock Springs Nature Center in Decatur.

Davis Files Hire More Heroes Act

US Rep. Rodney Davis of Taylorville says his legislation, the Hire More Heroes Act, was approved by the Senate Finance Committee. The bill would incentivize small businesses to hire veterans while giving them relief from Obamacare.

Illinois Does Very Well with Video Gambling

Illinois received almost $165 million from video gambling in 2014 – up from $75 million in 2013. Municipalities also saw a large increase – $15 million in 2013 to $33 million last year. Casinos saw an $87 million drop.

Lincoln-Logan C of C Changes its Membership Structure

The Lincoln-Logan County Chamber of Commerce has changed its membership structure. Businesses can now choose between six different tiers ranging from FREE and up.

Cerro Gordo Approves Drainage Project

A $240,000 drainage project has been approved by the Cerro Gordo village board. Eventually, new underground tile will connect an area from Forest Preserve Park to Veterans Park to ease flooding.

Clouds Mini Camp at Rock Springs

Children accompanied by an adult are invited to Rock Springs Nature Center in Decatur for Clouds Mini Camp. For kids ages 1 to 5 it’ll be held Feb. 10, and for ages 3 to 5 on Feb. 11.

Ernie Banks Statue Moved Out of Wrigley

The statue of Ernie Banks, normally at Wrigley Field, has been moved to the downtown Chicago plaza for a few days so fans can pay their respects to the Hall of Famer. Mr. Cub died of a heart attack last Fri.
