Congressman Rodney Davis is the featured speaker at the Decatur Chamber Business Breakfast tomorrow morning from 7 to 8. He’ll give updates on such issues as the Transportation Bill. Doors open at 6:45.

Decatur Man Sentenced to 7 Years

A Decatur man will do 7 years in prison for shaking his twin 5-month old daughters, injuring the ribs of one of them. Clayton Quick pleaded guilty to aggrivated battery of a child. He’ll also serve 3 years court supervision after his sentence.

Pana Police Make Arrest in Stabbing Incident

An update on that stabbing of a 17 year old male on Kitchell Ave. in Pana. Police say they’ve charged a 17 year old male with robbery and attempted murder, and are looking for another 17 year old male.

Little Kritters Soccer in Decatur

MidState Soccer Club’s Little Kritters Soccer program will be held Thursdays from April 9 to May 7. The sessions, for kids ages 3 and 4, will be at the Decatur Soccer Complex from 5 to 5:30.

Decatur Habitat for Humanity Dedicates New House

The Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity has dedicated its first home of the year. The 3-bedroom house on South Webster St. is now home to Lashawn Fields. Habitat’s second house of the year, is close to completion.

Future of Oasis Day Care in Decatur in Question

The Oasis Day Center in Decatur has had financial problems for years. Now, state budget cuts could put the center in a jackpot. Funding for Oasis is guaranteed through the end of June. After then – no one knows. Stay tuned.

Fire Hydrant Flushing in Decatur

The Decatur Fire Department and Decatur Water Department will be flushing and flow testing 1200 fire hydrants in the city during April. All testing takes place 8 to 4 Mon. through Fri.

Scovill Zoo Opens Friday

Scovill Zoo in Decatur opens for this season Fri. Zoo hours are 9:30 to 5 weekdays, 9:30 to 6 on weekends. The nearly 400 animals at the zoo are waiting to see you.

New Tourism Director in Logan County

The Logan County Tourism Bureau has a new tourism director. Margaret McMurtrey was a athlete at Greenville College and is particularly interested in enhancing sports tourism for Logan County.

Christian County Residents can Join Sheriff’s Association

Christian County residents are invited to become Associate Members of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association. Applications go out in the mail shortly – you can join at any time. Citizens can help support more effective law enforcement.
