Meat Loaf has been added to this year’s Illinois State Fair lineup in Aug. Not the edible meatloaf – the musical Meat Loaf. The State Fair runs Aug. 13 to the 23.

Abraham Lincoln Goes Back to City of Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln went back to the city of Lincoln this week – at least his statue did. The life-size depiction is of Lincoln from the steps of the Logan County Courthouse in Oct, 1858.

Piatt County Still Plans New Library Building

The Allerton Public Library in Piatt County still plans to break ground on its new building in Oct. But they need to fill the gap between the $2.7 million on hand – and the $3 million cost estimate.

MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run at Decatur’s Rotary Park

The Decatur Park District hosts the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run on Sat, May 9, from 10 to 2. p.m. Boys and girls softball and baseball players ages 7 to 14 will compete at Rotary Park, Field #2 in Decatur.

Hy-Vee Recalls Summer Fresh Pasta Salad

Hy-Vee has issued a recall for their Summer Fresh Pasta Salad – frozen vegetables may be contaminated with Listeria. The product has been pulled from stores in several states, including Illinois.

A Section of Rupp Pkwy. in Decatur Closed Next Week

Federal Dr. at Rupp Pkwy. in Decatur will be closed beginning next Tues. morning and continuing through Mon, May 11. Crews are doing storm sewer and pavement work. Rupp Pkwy. remains open but no turns onto Federal Dr.

Programs to Help Monticello’s Historic Downtown

Monticello is considering two programs to help the historic downtown business district. One would reward cooperative owners of vacant property – the other would help startups through a business “boot camp.”

School Dress Code May Change

Dress code at Decatur high schools may be changed a bit. If the school board approves…the high school uniform rules will be relaxed on certain days. That means kids could wear sweatshirts, letterman jackets and team or club uniforms on game days and spirit days.

Macon County Life in the 1800s

The Annual Macon County History Museum’s Prairie Life Days Event will be held May 6 through the 8. 3rd grade students will learn about what life was like for early settlers in the 1800s.

Support our Heroes Golf Tourney at 5 Decatur Courses

The “Support Our Heroes 2015 Golf Fundraiser” will be held May 22 through the 25 at five Decatur golf courses – the Country Club of Decatur, Hickory Point, Scovil, South Side, and Red Tail Run. Proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
