July Blood Drive in Decatur

Macon County residents are urged to donate blood during July. Overlook Adventure Park in Decatur will hold a blood drive July 10 from 3 to 7.

Could be the Wettest June in Illinois Ever

This is now officially the second wettest June on record in Illinois. State Climatologist, Jim Angel, fully expects the month to end up as the wettest June on record. The statewide average temp in June has been less that a degree above normal.

Work on South Shores Dr. Bridge is Extended

Due to inclement weather, repair work at the South Shores Dr. Bridge in Decatur has been extended to around 3 tomorrow afternoon. Crews are restoring pavement, which is subject to the weather.

Decatur’s Farm Progress Show

This year’s Farm Progress Show in Decatur features a country music concert with recording artist Craig Morgan, Sept. 2. Decatur’s annual Farm Progress Show runs Sept. 1, 2, and 3.

Lost Bridge Rd. in Decatur Partially Closed

Lost Bridge Rd. in Decatur, from Oak Ridge Dr. to Lake Front Rd, will be partially closed today and tomorrow from approximately 8:30 to 2:30 both days. Weather permitting, crews will be out mowing.

Ribbon Cutting at Decatur Boys and Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club of Decatur will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony July 15 for its newly renovated gym and games room. The club, on North Jasper St, is named in honor of retired Executive Director, Walter Smith.

The Clock is Ticking – Still No Illinois State Budget

The Illinois House will hear from 15 state agency directors today concerning a looming government shutdown. Still no state budget and Illinois’ 2015 and 16 fiscal year starts tomorrow.

Registration Opens for Decatur’s Prairie Pedal Fundraiser

Registration is now open for the annual Prairie Pedal bicycling fundraiser Sept. 27 at Rock Springs Conservation Area. Routes are 20, 40, or 62 miles. Proceeds support natural areas and wildlife in Macon County.

Still No State Budget in Illinois

Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner wants business-climate changes or he won’t sign the budget – Democrats and say they’re extreme. Illinois’ fiscal year begins Wed. With no state budget, services could be disrupted.

A Section of So. Jasper St. in Decatur is Partially Closed

South Jasper St. in Decatur, between East Cantrell and East Moore Sts, will be partially closed beginning this morning through tomorrow afternoon around 6. Crews will be installing sewer lining.
