Salvation Army’s Disaster Training Program

The Decatur Salvation Army is offering a National Disaster Training Program for those interested in becoming a Salvation Army Disaster volunteer. Training is Sat. morning Sept. 12 at 9 in The Salvation Army Community Hall, on West Main St.

Work is Underway on US Rte 51 Northbound Bridge

Bridge replacement work is underway on the US RTE 51 NORTHBOUND Bridge. Northbound and southbound traffic will now use the SOUTHBOUND US 51 bridge over Lake Decatur.

Sangamon County has been Put on Notice

The Public Interest Legal Foundation has put 141 counties on notice across the US that they have more registered voters than people alive. Sangamon County is one of 17 counties in Illinois to be put on notice.

Decatur’s Farm Progress Show is this week – tomorrow and Wed. 8 to 5, Thurs. 8 to 4. The show features new high-tech equipment and demonstrations, speakers, vendors, and information on the latest trends in farming.

Cause of Decatur Caterpillar Fire Still Unknown

Decatur Fire Officials say that recent fire at Caterpillar on North 27 St. appears to have started on or near the roof – the exact cause in undetermined. The building was being demolished prior to the fire.

Special Program at Macon County History Museum Tomorrow

This Sat. afternoon at 1:30, the Macon County History Museumin Decatur will host guest speaker Scott Rueter who will discuss medieval through WWII era arms and armor. He’ll also share his experience in Renaissance Fairs.

Railroad Track Repair in Decatur

The southbound turn lanes across the railroad tracks to Brush College Rd. on Faries Pkwy. is closed through tomorrow afternoon around 3. Canadian National is doing track repair.

Another Mural in Downtown Decatur

Another mural will be painted in Decatur over the Labor Day weekend on the west side of the building at 11 East Main St. It’ll celebrate Decatur’s the area’s connection between the Decatur Staleys and Chicago Bears football teams.
