Another study from WalletHub – 2015’s Cities with the Fastest Growing Economies; Out of 515 cities, Decatur was 510. Odessa, TX ranked #1, Carson, CA, was at the bottom of the list.

New Store and Ministry Center in Lincoln

A new store and ministry center is opening in downtown Lincoln to help low-income families in Logan County. The non-profit ReNew Consignment & Thrift, opens tomorrow on S. Sangamon – on the corner of Sangamon & Pulaski.

Millikin University has appointed Dr. Mark Munoz interim dean of the Tabor School of Business, effective Nov. 2. He’s currently professor of management and international business.

Dove Observes National Domestic Violence Month

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Dove will hold a Candlelighting Ceremony in the counties it serves. In Shelby County, there’ll be one tomorrow evening at 7 at First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.

Man Arrested for EIU Campus Robbery

Charleston Police arrested Ezra Evans, 18, of Chicago, on several charges including his involvement in a robbery on the EIU campus. Evans is in the Coles County Safety and Detention Center pending a court appearance.

Decatur PD Collecting Halloween Costumes

The Decatur Police Department is collecting new or gently used Halloween costumes now through Oct. 23. The costumes will be distributed to kids in the area who otherwise wouldn’t have one.

New Chief of Decatur Park Rangers

Former Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy, Ed Culp, 47, is now Chief of the Decatur Park Rangers. He retired from the sheriff’s office as chief deputy in 2010 after more than 20 years.

Dow AgroSciences Locating at UI-Champaign

Dow AgroSciences, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical, is opening a facility in the research park at UI-Champaign. The university’s research park is also home to ADM, John Deere, Caterpillar, and State Farm.
