Recycle Christmas Boxes and Paper

Boxes, wrapping paper, and cards are all recyclable. Put them in your curbside cart, drop them off at a Macon County Recycling trailer, or take them to MidWest Fiber on North Water St. in Decatur.

New Polling Location in Forsyth

Voters in Hickory Point 1 and 12 precincts, including the Village of Forsyth, have a new polling location. It’s at the Maroa Forsyth Grade School on E. Shafer St. in Forsyth.

What’s Open and Closed Over New Year’s

The DISC is open until 5 this afternoon, Scovill Golf Course is closed today and tomorrow. On New Year’s Day, This DISC will be open 8 to 1. Back to regular hours Sat. at all Decatur Park District facilities.

Taylorville PD Looking for Missing Teens

Taylorville Police are looking for two 18 year olds, last seen this past Mon. evening. Devan Everett and Brandon Mann may be in the Sangchris Lake area traveling in a red 2000 Ford F150.

Drone Conference Coming to Decatur

The Midwest Drone Conference and Expo is coming to the Decatur Conference Center and Hotel Jan. 26 and 27. It’s a follow-up to the Precision Aerial Ag Show at last summer’s Farm Progress show.

Ballots by Mail in Macon County

You can now apply for a ballot by mail in Macon County. They won’t be mailed out until Feb. 4th. Military and overseas ballots will be mailed out on or before Jan. 29th. Feb. 4 is the first day of Early Voting.

Two People Drown in Christian County

Authorities in Christian County say Cindy Dexheimer, 46, and Robert Gordon, 49, drowned this week. It appears the two were trying to cross a flooded area.

The Prairie Wind Trail is not Going to Happen

Next year, the state will begin redistributing property that was going to be a recreation trail. The Prairie Wind Trail was supposed to run from Oakland in Coles County to Lovington in Moultrie County.

YMCA New Year’s Eve Race

The Decatur Family YMCA hosts its 16th Annual 2 Miles to Miles New Year’s Eve Race starting at 2pm outside the Y. Choose from a 2K Fun Race or 5K Race.

Free Ride Home in Springfield

Any resident leaving a downtown Springfield bar can get a free cab voucher for a ride home. Vouchers will be available 6 pm New Year’s Eve through 5 am New Year’s Day.
