Free Outdoor Movie at Nelson Park

Bring a lawnchair or a blanket and enjoy a free movie in Nelson Park on the Decatur Park District’s HUGE inflatable screen. The movie on June 8 is “Inside Out” rated PG. Showtime at dusk.

A Section of Rte. 36 Reduced to One Lane

The eastbound lanes along Route 36 in Decatur, from the bridge to Forest Knolls Estate, are down to one lane daily 7 to 5 through June 15. Crews are clearing brush.

Decatur Park District’s Free Meal Program

The Decatur Park District will distribute free meals to children 18 and under at parks and schools June 6 through Aug. 3 Mon. through Fri. Over 35,000 meals were given out last year.

Home Break-in on East Main St. in Decatur

Decatur Police are looking for whoever got into a home on East Main St. and stole 2 gaming consoles, 2 TV’s, a laptop, iPad, and a cell phone. Officers found one window of the house – unlocked.

Tuesday Night Runs at Fairview Park

The Decatur Park District’s Tuesday night runs at Fairview Park begin June 7 and go to Aug. 2. The runs start at 6 and include a half-mile Tot Trot, one-mile Fun Run, or other distances up to six miles.

$11.2 Billion to Improve Illinois Roads

The Illinois DOT has released an $11.2 billion plan to improve Illinois roads and bridges over the next six years. That’s a $2.8 billion increase and is due to a boost in federal funding.

Weather Delays Decatur Road Project

Due to weather delays, County Highway 24 – Cerro Gordo Blacktop – between Stare and North Prairie View Rds, remains closed through this Thurs. Crews are replacing a crossroad culvert.

Champaign County Restaurants Fail Health Inspections

Over a 10-month period, 39 restaurants in Champaign County failed health inspections – several failed more than once. The inspection period went from last June to this past April.

This Year’s Macon County Fair

The 160th Macon County Fair runs June 7 through the 12 with carnival rides, a family fun night, go-cart racing, and a lot more. Fair admission is just $1 per person – children 3 and under get in free. Fairgrounds parking is also free.

North Woodford St. Closed to “Through Traffic”

North Woodford St. in Decatur will be closed to “through” traffic starting this morning through next Mon. afternoon around 5. Crews are tapping a water main and installing water service.
