Talk 101 Live Broadcast for Toys for Tots Tomorrow

WAND holds its 9th annual Spirit of Giving day tomorrow to help Macon County Toys for Tots. Talk 101 will broadcast live tomorrow 6 to 6 from the WAND parking lot. Toys will also be collected at Walmart North.

Attempted Child Abduction in Urbana

Urbana Police are investigating an attempted child abduction near Preston Williams Elementary School. Reportedly, a man in a dark van demanded a child to get in. The child did not.

$30 Million Referendum to Renovate Monticello Schools

A referendum for a $30 million renovation to schools in Monticello will be on the March 20th ballot. Voters have turned it down twice before when the price tag was $40 million.

Decatur Officer Hurt While Making Arrest

Decatur Police arrested Cesar Benitez, 31, after he almost hit a bicyclist in the Applebee’s parking lot on South Rte. 51. He’s charged with assault and resisting arrest. One Officer was treated for a wrist injury.

Memorial Service Next Week at St. Mary’s Hospital

St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur hosts a Holiday Memorial Service in its chapel next Wed. at 6pm. The service remembers and honors babies who have died during pregnancy, at birth, or in early infancy.

Illinois Lawmakers Discuss Legalizing Marijuana

An Illinois House and Senate committee spent some time this week discussing the legalization of marijuana. If legalized, the state could see up to $700 million in tax revenue.

12 Year Old Decatur Girl Shot in the Leg

Decatur Police are investigating a shooting in the area of Main and Hilton Sts. Some people were arguing, shots were fired, and a 12 year old girl was hit in the leg. Gunshots also hit two nearby cars.

62 Year Old Woman Dies in Decatur Apartment Fire

A 62 year old woman died in a third floor apartment fire at the Oxford House senior community center in Decatur. No report of any other injuries, and no word yet on how the fire started.

Young Girl Shot In Decatur

More gun violence in Decatur. Tuesday night, a 12 year old girl was shot in the leg as she walked near Main and Hilton. Police don’t know if she was the target. Witnesses say there was an argument nearby that resulted in shots fired. No arrests yet.

Pet Food Drive at Fairview Animal Hospital

Fairview Animal Hospital in Decatur is collecting food donations for pets now through Dec. 19, with a goal of collecting 2,500 pounds of pet food. Fairview is open 8 to 5 Mon. through Fri, and 8 to noon on Sat.
